Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the questions we hear most often. If you do not see what you are looking for, give us a confidential call — we are glad to talk it through.

How do I know if I need treatment?
If opioid use is affecting your health, relationships, work, or sense of control, it may be time to reach out. You do not need to have everything figured out — a phone call is a good first step.
Is Star Center inpatient or outpatient?
Star Center is an outpatient treatment center. You receive care during scheduled visits and continue living at home.
What is methadone treatment?
Methadone is a medication used in opioid treatment programs that can reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings, making recovery more manageable. At Star Center it is one part of a larger care plan.
What happens at intake?
Intake includes paperwork and a few questions about your history and substance use, along with an assessment, so we can understand your needs and build the right plan.
How quickly can I get started?
We work to get people into treatment as quickly as possible. Call us and we will walk you through the next available steps.
Do you offer counseling?
Yes. Counseling is available as part of treatment and gives patients a place to talk through recovery, stress, setbacks, and progress.
What is the Gold Star Program?
Gold Star is a hands-on case management program for eligible patients who need help connecting to medical care, mental health services, or other outside resources. This is Star Center's Substance Use Disorder Health Home (SUDHH) Program.
Can I call for a loved one?
Yes. Many people call on behalf of a family member or friend. We are glad to answer questions and explain how to help someone get started.
Do you help with outside referrals?
Yes. When outside care is needed, we help connect patients to appropriate providers and community resources.
What number should I call after hours?
Our after-hours line is 1-800-241-4949. For emergencies, call 911 or the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
